3 Reasons to Start Planning Your 2022 Renovation Now

If you had great intentions for a renovation project in 2021 but didn’t get around to it, fear not because 2022 is just around the corner and you can be ahead of the game if you start now. With holidays abound and the beginning of a new year upon us, December and January can be an incredibly busy time for all of us, but there are many reasons to begin that 2022 project ASAP. Here are our top 3:

  1. Take Advantage of Slow Season – Whether or not you’re certain of when you want to start your project, now is the best time to meet with contractors. During the holidays and beginning of the year, people don’t like to have active projects, so your trusted GC may have more time to meet with you regarding your future projects. When you work with a trusted design/build firm (like us!), we can start the discussion and even begin the design phase process before the craziness of the new year sets in. This means, while your neighbor is scrambling to get on the schedule for a quote on a new screen porch addition come February, you’ll already be well on your way to completing your dream project!
  2. “Planning Is Essential” – This isn’t just a fantastic Winston Churchill quote. The broken record of “supply issues” has been a problem since the beginning of the pandemic and has caused the price of materials to increase, but the truth is “delay issues” are the greater challenge today. Cost of materials is not as big of an issue, but can you get them in time to complete the project you have planned for 2022? We are recommending that clients move forward with the design phase of their project as soon as possible, so they know what materials and/or appliances they will need. Then, we have them order everything from 60-120 days in advance so everything is on the ground and ready to complete the project efficiently. Let’s not forget that beginning the design phase also allows your contractor to secure the labor that will be needed for the project so that you aren’t paying a premium for a shortage of labor when you’re ready to break ground.
  3. Baby, It’s Cold Outside –This means that many consumers aren’t even thinking about projects/renovations of outdoor space. The truth is, while we can help you begin planning and designing any project today, this is the perfect time to consider your exterior projects in particular. There is very little inconvenience to having crews bustling around an outdoor project when you don’t want to be outside anyway. And, by starting the process now, you could be well on your way to enjoying your outdoor spaces for spring… instead of realizing you want renovations done to your deck in the spring and not being able to fully enjoy it until the summer.

The bottom line… Now is the time to launch your 2022 New Year’s resolution and get that renovation project going. Be proactive when it comes to planning your dream home and get started with a free consultation today. Happy Holidays, and Happy Planning!
